This Privacy Policy describes how the Label Shield iOS application ("the App", "we", "us") handles your information when you use the App. It applies to anyone who downloads or uses the App on iOS.

The App's core features — taking photos of food labels, recognising text via Apple's Vision framework, identifying ingredients via the on-device database, optionally using Apple Intelligence for layout detection, and saving scan history — happen entirely on your device. The following is never collected or sent off your device by Label Shield:

When you use the optional in-app tip, the transaction is handled by Apple. We never see your payment details. Apple's privacy practices apply — see Apple's Privacy Policy.
We receive only a successful purchase identifier — nothing else.
On iPhone 15 Pro and newer devices, the App uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models framework to help identify the ingredient list within a photo. This processing is performed entirely on your device by Apple's frameworks. No prompt or response is transmitted to Apple's servers.
The App requests camera and photo library access only to allow you to scan a food label. The selected image is processed on your device and stored in the App's private storage as part of your scan history. It is never uploaded by Label Shield.
You can revoke camera or photo permissions at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security.
The App stores the following on your device only:
You can delete individual scans, clear all history from History → ⋯ → Clear All, or uninstall the App at any time to remove all data.
The App does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. The App is rated 4+ and contains no objectionable content. If you believe data has been inadvertently collected from a child, contact us and we will help.
Because Label Shield itself does not collect data, there is nothing for us to retain. Third-party services (Google AdMob, Apple) follow their own retention policies linked above.

If you are in the EU, UK, or California, you also have rights under GDPR / UK GDPR / CCPA. Because Label Shield holds no personal data itself, these rights are largely satisfied by the controls above. For data held by third parties (AdMob, Apple), contact them directly using the links above.
If we materially change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date and post the new version at the same URL. Continued use of the App after a change indicates acceptance of the new policy.
